313 I fail to see how these books garnered so many 5 star reviews. I tried to like them and do admit that some parts held my interest, particularly the storyline with Ben and Lyda. I liked the characters enough to keep going, although the romances had very little emotional tension.The only reasons these could possibly be considered historical novels is the mode of travel portrayed and the town having no electricity. I highly doubt the words clinic or health center were used 140 years ago in the American West.Rachel, a woman rancher, was supposed to be "running the ranch", but in the rare instances she did do ranch work, it was not accurate. Any mentions pertaining to the cattle business couldn't possibly have been researched, especially the calving, in which all parts of that scene seemed to have been drawn out of thin air. Far from the reality of it.Also, the phrases of mouths tipping and hair being tousled used over and over were very irritating.The prologue and the epilogue of the last book were good. I probably will not read any more books by the author.
